The day I decided to put up a home office was the same day I realized that I would need to buy a few extra pieces of furniture. That's because having a home office often means spending a lot of time sitting down in front of a computer, and though I looked around my house, I didn't have a suitable chair for the job. They either weren't comfortable enough or they were too comfy and too low to the ground.
So, like many people these days, I decided to look online, and I quickly found the Black Leather Executive Office Chair by Flash Furniture . The model I was looking at was the GO-901-BK-GG, and I was drawn to it because it looked great in the photos, and it was black, which meant that if it got scratched up, repairing the leather wouldn't be too demanding. A push of a button and a few days later, I had my chair!
It took me a while to put the chair together. Most reviews said it was easy to install and could be done in twenty minutes, but I'm terrible at putting things together. In fact, when I first put it together, it wouldn't stand correctly. I had to take it apart and go slowly, making sure each piece fit in well, being patient with it and getting the right fit in the center pole and the arms. So though it took me a while, and I initially messed it up, I don't doubt that a more competent person can do it perfectly in twenty minutes. After all, I was able to do it in the end! The debacles of setting it up over with, I finally had an office chair!
More than just a leather chair, the Flash Furniture GO-901-BK-GG has a titanium finish, loop arms with great arm rests, a tilt lock mechanism, and a good set of wheels, which may be my nephew's favorite feature! Overall, it is a really comfortable chair. The entire chair is sculpted in specific areas to help you sit down for hours without getting tired or straining your back. In fact, one of the chair's biggest marketing points is its lumbar support, and I have to agree that it does give good support.
This is a site about leather, so I do have to comment on the leather of the chair. It's treated leather, the kind used for furniture, though admittedly not the best kind. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be made of extremely expensive leather. Considering the price, this type of leather is good enough. In my long experience with leather it's the kind that is quite durable, and doesn't absorb liquid too quickly, which means it takes a lot to get moisture spots on it. I'm 100% sure that it will last longer than intended if you take the time to clean and condition it once in a while, which is something I do.
Since starting my home office last year, the Flash Furniture GO-901-BK-GG has been my office chair, and it's worked really well for me. I've heard that some people have been having problems with the gas shock or the mechanism that lets you adjust the chair up and down. Apparently the system breaks and the chair ends up sinking to the ground. It's been a little over a year since I've had this chair, and I haven't had this problem yet. Though I happen to know that this is something that happens to ALL office chairs, especially after frequent of the mechanism, and I barely adjust my chair so maybe that's what's save the system so far.
Despite a possibly faulty mechanism and the challenges of putting it together, what the video review on the Flash Furniture site says is absolutely true: you cannot beat the price of this chair. It's a great deal for what you're getting in return, and there are so few products out there these days that can offer you the same value for your money that this chair does.
