Reviewing Leather CPR Leather Cleaner Conditioner

Leather CPR

Last October, I was surrounded by bags, shoes, belts, etc. and I was lazy to do what I had to do. Proper leather maintenance requires that you clean and condition your leather products once or twice a year. I usually clean my stuff every six months, but last October I was lazy, and I wished I didn't have to go through the process.

So instead starting to clean, I decided to go through the process of looking for a faster way to clean my items. I'm generally skeptical about products that are cleaners and conditioners in one because my thinking is that something has to give in that mixture and it will either be more of a conditioner or more of a cleaner. However, the Leather CPR Leather Cleaner Conditioner got such rave reviews that I decided, why not?

The bottle arrived quickly after purchase. As always, I appreciate quick delivery. It's basically a 32 oz bottle of product, and it didn't weight much either, only 2.2 pounds. However, it is definitely a big bottle, and I could easily see working with the bottle the company sends you wouldn't be smart because no matter what you do, you'll end up pouring too much out. (I found out later that the manufacturer recommends you pour the formula into one of those squeeze bottles, and that made much more sense to me.)

So I poured some into a plastic bowl and started my cleaning. Right away, I could see that it was doing a good job! The leather looked cleaner and it was definitely being conditioned! My things were starting too look nice and new again, which is one of the reasons why I love maintaining leather. Plus, unlike other products, there was no residue left behind, which is great for the furniture because that means you can sit on it right away without having to worry that it'll rub off on you, which it didn't.

Leather CPR was really impressive so far! I was starting to change my mind on the idea that a cleaner-and-conditioner-in-one doesn't work well until I got to the leather bag that I use everyday. For the most part, it cleaned it pretty well, but it couldn't get the dirt and grime out of the underside of the bag, which is admittedly the dirtiest part of any bag because it's the part that gets set down on tables, floors, etc. I knew for a fact that the dirt and grime does come off pretty well because I've cleaned it before with cleanser-only solutions. Now I don't know if it has anything to do with the fact that the bag is old, and maybe it accumulates a bit more grime each time, but the job was too tough for Leather CPR. I wasn't sure if I should clean the bottom of the bag with a regular cleanser then re-condition it because I didn't want to overdo anything and stress the leather. So I decided to let it be and just clean it again in six months time.

After my cleaning ritual, I decided to check out the manufacturer's site, and I found some great points about Leather CPR. First, it's dermatologist tested not to irritate the skin. I thought that was great! When you clean leather, you often deal with chemicals, and the simple knowledge that what you're dealing with won't hurt you is a plus! Second, I found out that the product was originally designed to clean equestrian tacks, but can also be used on other leather items. I think equestrian tacks get pretty dirty, though I'm not sure what type of leather they use and if this is more responsive to the product's cleaning agents. Third, and finally, I found out that Leather CPR also comes in single-use packets! May not be exciting for most people, but for someone who owns tons of leather like I do, this is great news! Now you can travel with your leather and not worry too much about it getting worn down or scratched up because if it does, you can quickly condition it, and lessen the damage done! Perfect! It also means that you can clean and condition one item and a time or if you don't have too much leather, you aren't forced to buy the big bottle!

Looking at everything objectively, I'd say this product is definitely worth the money. Not only does it work well, but the manufacturer does put in the effort to make it worth your while and convenient for you to have the product around. The next time I'm looking for a one-step solution to your leather care, this would be my choice.
